According to the Mahabharata and the Puranas, it is said that if there was one woman just as beautiful and virtuous as Radha was, it was Rukmini, the Vidarbha princess. According to classical literature, Rukmini who falls in love with Lord Krishna after listening to tales of his valour, sends a note to him asking him to save her from an unwanted marriage. Upon her request, Krishna kidnaps her and later makes her the principal queen. She is also known as Ruciranana, meaning one with a face as beautiful as a blossoming lotus flower.
